Connect With a Quiz!

From Zoom Charades to Netflix Viewing Parties (thanks to a chat-enabled Google Chrome extension), social distancing has led many of us to reimagine the activities we enjoy with friends. Personally, I can’t seem to get enough of Custom Quizzes—having created four wholly original ones that test just how well these group of friends/family know each other: 1) my circle of cousins; 2) my sister & her family; 3) my circle of childhood friends; and 4) my mother & three aunts.

FlexiQuiz.com (top) was the most intuitive platform I looked at—allowing me to switch background themes, fonts, etc. while easily importing/resizing images, including the logo I created (bottom left)

FUN FOR WHO? It’s a great way to connect with co-workers (and help make-up for lost office interaction). And with many seniors having to cut the school year short, the downloadable quiz (and accompanying, custom certificate) helps memorialize their high school years. Cataloging what they love about each other… while learning something new.

I learned if my sister’s family could eat only one food for the rest of their lives, it would be pizza; And that Jacques-Louis David is one cousin’s favorite artist. While my friends learned that as a kid, I dreamed of being a set designer; and that I am the older twin. Want to include a few more esoteric questions? Buzzfeed’s list of Top 50 Personality Quizzes provides some great inspiration:

  • What’s the Group’s Collective Stance On Oysters: Yum? Or Yuck?

  • Which “Stranger Things” Character Is Cousin Mark?

  • What Part of The United States Does Beth Really Belong In?

  • What is One Thing Karen Thinks Everyone Likes About Her?

START NOW: The intuitive FlexiQuiz.com platform and these simple steps make it easy:

1. Begin by asking each person in the group to send you (and only you) 5 facts about themselves. They can be things all should know: i.e. "What street did Joe live on as a child?”; Or things all should be able to guess at from among 4 multiple-choice answers: i.e. "Who is Aunt Ellen’s favorite artist?"

2. While some in your group have known each other for decades, others (like new spouses) may be unfamiliar with the group’s history… so please consider all participants when asking for facts. For example: Ask co-workers for the name of their first boyfriend/girlfriend and it’s doubtful anyone would know the answer. But ask who their favorite singer is, and most could certainly guess it (from among multiple choices).

3. With FlexiQuiz any question can be a Single-Choice Dropdown, True or False, Picture Choice, Fill-In-The-Blank, or Multiple-Choice question (with you making up the three wrong answers).

Platform allows you to determine pass/fail parameters; and to create a certificate that participants can download when done (pictured)

4. When done, click “publish,” copy the invite link, and send it to all participants.

While the four I’ve created have been huge hits—with my sister exclaiming, “You gave us 20 minutes of laugh-out-loud fun”—it’s been just as much fun, if not more, for me. How else could I have learned which of our rooms my cousin Kevin sneaked into as a child!
