IS THE LAST DAY OF KWANZAA. Closing out a year that marked the 400th anniversary of the first African slave ship’s arrival in Jamestown, Virginia in 1619, gives this year’s week-long celebration extra meaning for African-Americans. And gives others something to think on. Wrongly called separatist by some or “Black Christmas” by others, the cultural celebration has its roots in the civil rights movement. And its seven principles of unity, self-determination, collective work & responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith speak to all of us.

BOMBAS, the sock industry game-changer, will donate its 30,019,156th ITEM to homeless shelters.

IS NATIONAL BLOODY MARY DAY. Originally named the Bucket of Blood, this famed hangover remedy was created in Paris nearly a century ago in 1921 by bartender Ferdinand “Pete” Petiot at Harry’s Bar in The Ritz Hotel.
