HAS BEEN DESIGNATED HUMAN TRAFFICKING AWARENESS DAY. A call-to-action to proactively address the 21 million people around the world who are victims of forced labor through efforts to 1) dismantle trafficking networks; 2) rebuild survivors’ lives; and 3) address the underlying forces that push so many into bondage. Highly-rated non-profits that could use our help include The Polaris Project (polarisproject.org), which uses data-driven strategies to prevent and disrupt human trafficking; and Love 146 (love146.org), which focuses on survivor care and prevention.

IT’S GENE WILDER’S BIRTHDAY. Born Jerome Silberman 87 years ago, the actor/screenwriter/director/producer (who passed away in 2016) captured our childhood imaginations as Willie Wonka and our adult funny bones as the star (and co-author) of “Young Frankenstein” and “Blazing Saddles.” Few minds have been wilder.
