Hungry For Something New?

Whether anticipating your favorite dish or the chance to experience totally new cuisine, visit nycgo.com/restaurantweek to see all of Restaurant Week’s venues. Three that top my list are below. And to ensure I get a table, the site suggests booking for lunch—or for a Sunday night, when there’s usually more availability.

BLACK BARN. If you’ve longed to enjoy this “modern barn,” but balked at the “luxury-high-rise prices”, jump on their $26 lunch menu, which includes Roasted Squash & Ricotta Bruschetta with Truffle Honey; Chestnut Gnocchi; and Grilled Cheese with Squash, Leek & Apple Soup.

19 E. 26th St., 212-265-5959; blackbarnrestaurant.com.

ZENGO. Explore the Latin-Asian flavors of chef (and Bon Appetit Restaurateur of the Year) Richard Sandoval. If the Green Coconut Crispy Fish Curry with Winter Thai Slaw isn’t enough to lure you in, perhaps one of the largest collections of agave-based spirits in the country will.

622 Third Ave, 212-808-8110; eatzengo.com

TAK ROOM. Those yet to venture over to Hudson Yards could ask for no better introduction than Thomas Keller’s new spot—offering “Continental cuisine in an atmosphere of throwback style and glamour,” Here’s hoping the Madeira Glazed Mushrooms, Candied Hobbs’ Bacon or other amazing-sounding sides find their way onto the Restaurant Week menu.
