“STAR TREK: PICARD” PREMIERES ON CBS ALL ACCESS. Sir Patrick Stewart’s initial fears that the role of Jean-Luc Picard would become an albatross around his neck proved baseless. In fact, since first taking the role, he has (among other things) starred on Broadway and the West End in “Macbeth” and “Waiting for Godot,” won an Olivier Award, and been knighted!

Star Trek creator, Gene Roddenberry, told Stewart that he envisioned Picard as a “Horatio Hornblower-type character”—a heroic voyager. It’s a tribute to his acting chops that over the seven seasons that “Star Trek: The Next Generation” aired, his Captain became much, much more. And tonight, fans can join him on his next chapter… or should I say voyage.

THE GRAMMYS ANNOUNCE THEIR “MUSIC EDUCATOR AWARD” WINNER. Many of music’s biggest stars owe their success to inspiring and committed teachers. The ones that first put an instrument in their hands or helped them find their confidence on stage. Happily, the Recording Academy® recognizes them. This year, 10 music teachers from across nine states (out of an initial 3,300 nominations!) have been announced as finalists. The winner will be flown to LA to attend the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards® this weekend, with the remaining 9 finalists receiving a $1,000 honorarium. And ALL 10 finalists’ schools will receive matching grants.
